Esbit – Stainless Steel Foldable BBQ300S

This compact portable charcoal grill from Esbit is an excellent replacement for disposable grills. Thanks to its design, which clearly resembles Esbit’s fuel tablet stove Pocket Stove, it packs easily in and out of the included carry bag with shoulder strap, so you can easily take it wherever grilling beckons. The grill also comes with a very practical charcoal storage bag that fits inside the grill when packed.

When unpacked, the base plate – which protects the surface below and prevents the sides from folding inward – is put in place, and then you’re ready to go. The grill grate height can be adjusted in three positions, and a detachable handle is included. The grill grate, like the grill itself, is stainless steel and easy to clean – bring some steel wool in the carry bag for even smoother cleanup.

The grilling results are good, but a slightly larger grilling surface wouldn’t be a bad idea if you’re doing more advanced grilling where more than just hot dogs is on the menu. But that’s something worth overlooking since the compact form means the grill can easily be taken just about anywhere. It fits in most kayak hatches, you can sling it over your shoulder when meeting friends for a grill session in the park, on the family picnic, or why not keep it as standard equipment in the car for when a craving for freshly grilled food strikes mid-outing. What’s missing is that grilling tongs aren’t included – if a pair had been in the carry bag, this would have been a home run.
