– The innovative features that connect the watch with new ConnectIQ apps give users the best a GPS smartwatch can offer.

Uncompromising Design

The fēnix 3 has a cool and athletic design with superior quality. It comes in three variants – Silver with red band and crystal lens, Gray with black band and crystal lens, and Sapphire with stainless steel link and domed sapphire lens. All three models feature the new innovative EXO™ antenna made of steel that receives GPS and GLONASS signals while protecting the watch in tough environments. The new thinner design is fiberglass-reinforced with stainless steel buttons. The fēnix 3 is water-rated to 100 meters, making it perfect for all extreme water sports like swimming and kayaking.

The fēnix 3 has a Chroma color display that’s readable in all lighting conditions. Battery life is 20 hours in GPS mode, 50 hours in UltraTrac mode, and up to six weeks in watch mode. The fēnix 3 has basic watch functions like alarms, tones, vibration reminders, timer, and stopwatch. You can also choose from a variety of digital and analog watch faces to suit any occasion.

Advanced Training Features

The fēnix 3 has many advanced training features that can help you improve your fitness and conditioning. When paired with a heart rate monitor¹, it measures your oxygen uptake capacity (VO2Max), cadence, vertical oscillation, and ground contact time. The fēnix 3 also calculates recovery time after an intense workout and predicts race times.

Several features in the fēnix 3 are specifically designed for trail running. The new trail running profile includes features like “Auto-Run-Climb,” which automatically switches settings with the most relevant data depending on whether you’re on flat ground or climbing, and a Climbing Odometer that measures your ascent over longer distances.

Beyond running, the fēnix 3 also has comprehensive features for cycling, swimming, triathlon, and skiing. In the water, whether in the pool or the ocean, the fēnix 3 can measure distance, pace, stroke count, and more. Ski/Board mode measures speed, distance, vertical drop, and counts the number of runs. Around the clock, the fēnix 3 tracks steps, calories burned, and distance, and you get a new step goal each morning. When you’ve been sitting still for more than an hour, it vibrates as a reminder to get moving. It also tracks your sleep at night.

Outdoor Navigation

Like its predecessors, the fēnix 3 has many smart navigation features. The new stainless steel EXO antenna provides both faster and improved positioning in demanding environments, and together with the barometer, altimeter, and 3-axis compass, the fēnix 3 is reliable for navigation both on the road and in the forest. With the fēnix 3, you can plan trips and navigate routes, mark locations, and record tracks. TracBack® helps you find your way back to your starting point.

Smart Connected

Besides being an impressive navigator and sports watch, the fēnix 3 is also a connected watch. Paired with your compatible smartphone², you receive smart notifications on your fēnix 3 and can see messages, emails, and who’s calling right on your wrist while your phone is in your backpack. You can also easily save and share your activities through automatic transfer to Garmin Connect via WiFi or the Garmin Connect Mobile App via Bluetooth®. And if you want to show friends and family where you are, you can let them follow you in real-time with LiveTrack.

With ConnectIQ, the fēnix 3 can be fully customized to suit your personal needs. ConnectIQ is the first open platform where third-party developers can create applications for Garmin products. Through the ConnectIQ store on the Garmin Connect Mobile App, you can download custom apps, widgets, data fields, and watch faces to make your fēnix 3 even smarter and cooler.

The fēnix 3 also works as a wireless remote for Garmin VIRB® action cameras. Via ANT+, you can start and stop recording and take still photos directly from your wrist. Besides heart rate monitors, the fēnix 3 is compatible with a range of other ANT+™ accessories such as the tempe™ temperature sensor, speed and cadence sensor, and Vector™ power meter.

The fēnix 3 is expected to be available in March 2015 at a recommended price starting from SEK 4,299.
