Norrköping-based company Hooked On Nature was at Swesport showcasing their range that makes berry and mushroom picking life easier.
Hooked On Nature is a young company, and founder Kerstin Gunnarsson came up with the idea for a foldable berry picker during a mountain hike in the summer of 2008. You can see the berry picker in the main image. The company’s other products include a mushroom knife in orange or black, a lingonberry bag, a mushroom/berry bag, a backpack, and a foldable sitting pad.
The berry picker, with a recommended retail price of SEK 299, has a carabiner that can be attached to a belt or backpack. It holds 1.2 liters of berries and measures 120 by 140 mm when folded. Weight is 160 g. A very convenient product suited for both the enthusiast and those who occasionally get a berry-picking urge. The soft prongs are gentle on berries, and it has also been tested with excellent results on currant bushes.
The other products are, as mentioned, designed for berries and mushrooms. The mushroom knife, for example, is imported from Italy thanks to its extra-hard bristle that makes cleaning mushrooms easier.
Hooked On Nature currently has about 90 retailers in Sweden.
When the season comes, we’ll bring out the berry picker and test it on blueberry, lingonberry, and currant bushes.
