Suunto now presents two free upgrades for the Ambit which will take the award-winning and highly appreciated GPS watch to an entirely new functional level. Since its successful launch this spring, Suunto has continuously sought customer feedback on how the Ambit can be improved. This has resulted in two upgrades that add value to the watch by developing it according to customers’ evolving needs.
The first upgrade, available at the end of September on Movescount.com, includes:
o On-screen route navigation
o Routes that can be downloaded online
o Location display in 14 local grid systems (includes USA, UK, and key European countries)
o Plus chrono, time recording with GPS, constant backlight, and five new languages (Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Finnish, and Swedish)
With the update, users will be able to download routes online or conveniently enter their
own waypoints from their computers. They can then see their route in real time when they’re out on the trails, whether
hiking or cycling, including starting point, current position, and most importantly the route ahead. Location display in local grids is another long-awaited upgrade for users who
want to pinpoint where they are on the map.
The next release, coming in November, will give users new training features such as
an interval timer and compatibility with both Suunto Foot POD and ANT+, as well as the ability to download
features created by other users, allowing further customization of the watch.
These are classic Suunto upgrades. For more than 75 years, the Finnish company has been
pioneering sports watches and sports instruments, encouraging its users to push
their own boundaries and explore possibilities. It’s a philosophy the company lives by
with pride.
About Suunto Ambit:
The award-winning Ambit is the leading and trendsetting GPS watch that gives both adventurers and
athletes a wide-ranging selection of features in an extremely robust and durable housing. With the GPS
function, users can see where they are, navigate on screen, and view their route online where they
can also share it or study it for training purposes. As an athlete, the
high-sensitivity pace and speed measurement with accelerometer, built-in GPS, and
heart rate monitoring is very useful. Reliable ABC functions, which are a hallmark of Suunto, are standard. They
include an altimeter and barometer to know what the weather will be like, and a 3D compass that can
be read regardless of the watch face angle. The Ambit, carrying on Suunto’s heritage in dive instruments, is
waterproof down to 100 meters below the surface, meaning it can handle any adventure.
