The outer tent fabric in the Saitaris is Kerlon 1800, the poles are 10 mm, and in combination with the dome construction, this means the tent is very robust and can handle both strong winds and snow loads. Hilleberg writes that it’s primarily the Saitaris construction that sets it apart from other tents. The innovative pole system means that two longitudinal poles attached in full-length sleeves are placed over the tent’s roof, and two side poles in three-quarter-length sleeves are laid over the two longitudinal poles. The lower part of the side poles is attached with hooks, and all four poles are secured with the same pole tensioners found in the company’s tunnel tents, ensuring the poles are properly tightened and giving the tent optimal structural strength. This system creates an incredibly robust, unusually spacious dome tent that can easily be pitched by one person, even in harsh weather.
Beyond this, the Saitaris has the same extended vestibule construction as the Keron GT tunnel tent, providing both very large vestibule space and longitudinal ventilation.
The tent has a full 5 square meters of floor space, and the two vestibules add another 4.2 square meters. Impressive!
The Saitaris has a recommended price of SEK 13,800, sleeps 4 people, weighs 6.4 kg, and comes in the classic colors green and red. This is a tent for use in exposed terrain above the tree line, at base camp, or during demanding outdoor adventures in very tough conditions. With its freestanding construction, it suits kayakers as well as skiers.
