In May 2012, Hilleberg the Tentmaker introduced its first three-season tents for users who prioritized strength and low weight without needing four-season features.

The Anjan 2 and 3 tunnel tents were based on the established, award-winning Nallo. The two-person Rogen dome tent took inspiration from the popular Allak.

“There is a clear need for lightweight tents tailored to people who go out in spring, summer and autumn, while meeting the demanding requirements for stability and strength imposed by the changeable weather in Sweden’s mountains,” said Rolf Hilleberg, CEO of Hilleberg the Tentmaker. “We are very pleased to offer our customers a strong solution. Our new three-season tents are not simply summer tents. They are designed and developed like our other tents, using proven solutions and materials. Our new Kerlon 1000 fabric lets us reduce weight further while retaining high tear strength.”

Both Anjan and Rogen used 9 mm poles and Kerlon 1000 flysheet fabric, with a stated tear strength of 10 kg. They were intended for the Scandinavian mountains’ snow-free months, when sunshine can quickly give way to rain, wind and cold.

The Anjan 2 and 3 had packed weights of 1.7 and 1.9 kg respectively, around 25% lighter than the corresponding Nallo designs. At 2.0 kg packed, the Rogen was around 35% lighter than the four-season Allak.

As on Hilleberg’s four-season tents, the poles sat outside the flysheet for structural strength. The linked inner and outer tents simplified pitching, while either could also be used separately.

Launch prices:

  • Anjan 2: SEK 4,950.
  • Anjan 3: SEK 5,500.
  • Rogen: SEK 6,950.
