Icebreaker’s autumn 2012 cycling collection
Icebreaker’s GT Bike collection combined merino wool and Lycra in jerseys, three-quarter pants and accessories designed for autumn and winter riding.
For autumn 2012, merino clothing specialist Icebreaker introduced GT Bike, a cycling collection of jerseys, tops, pants and accessories in seasonal colors.
GT Bike combined fine merino wool with LYCRA® for stretch and fit. Icebreaker promoted the wool’s ability to regulate temperature in warm, cold, wet and dry conditions, with breathability helping manage warmth and resist odor.
Rob Achten, a veteran of the transcontinental Race Across America and Icebreaker’s creative director and head of product, said: “The new collection is ideal for autumn and winter cycling. Nothing performs or feels as good on the bike as Icebreaker merino wool. We have tested these products intensively to make sure we offer cyclists the very best cycling clothing on the market.”
The season’s prints drew inspiration from New Zealand’s natural landscapes. Colors ranged from neutrals to strong, saturated shades: pink, ruby and deep red for women, and turf, bright green and dark blue-green for men.
The new women’s LS Viva Jersey and men’s LS Circuit Jersey used a midweight fabric suited to wearing alone or in layers. Both featured three pocket sections, reflective piping for visibility and a cable loop for an MP3 player.
Also new were the women’s Halo Pant and men’s Cadence three-quarter cycling pants. Their ergonomic construction used eight and six panels respectively. Both included anatomically shaped padding and Ponte-knit fabric for comfort, durability and stretch.
