The 0.2-micron membrane has manufacturer-stated reductions of 99.999999% for bacteria, 99.999% for parasites and 99.999% for microplastics. Its rated life is up to 1,000 liters. The straw needs no battery, but source selection and maintenance still matter. LifeStraw’s instructions exclude seawater, brackish water and chemically contaminated water.
