Meindl Island available in four fits
The Meindl Island’s 2010 anniversary update improved ventilation and expanded the boot to four lasts, while Swedish sales of the brand grew.

Meindl marked the Island boot’s 20th anniversary in 2010 and reported a sharp rise in Swedish sales. By March 2011, distributor Sporthaus Moxter said sales volume had grown by 100% over the previous year as the brand reached a broader audience. Sports and outdoor retailers remained its base, but specialist shoe stores were also beginning to stock the range.
The anniversary brought a substantial update to the Island, including an internal channel system designed to improve ventilation. It was available in four lasts: narrow women’s, standard women’s, unisex and wide unisex. The price was SEK 3,300.
The range also included the Meindl Pionier, an unlined lightweight boot in sizes 36–46, priced at SEK 2,400.
I can speak to Meindl’s value from experience: the pair of Meindl Performance boots I bought in 1999 had accompanied me on many outdoor outings by the time of this article.
Alongside Meindl, Sporthaus Moxter represented Nokian Footwear, Treksta and Bridgedale socks.
