Highlights from Haglöfs’ spring 2012 collection
A look at Haglöfs’ spring 2012 Tilta shell jacket, Krios and Lethe Q backpacks, Lizard pants and Observe hiking shoes.
Haglöfs announced numerous additions across its product ranges for spring 2012. Here is a selection.
Tilta Jacket
The Tilta Jacket was developed for trekking in warmer conditions where full weather protection is still needed. It also suits higher-intensity activities that call for breathability, low weight and a small packed size. Made from GORE-TEX® Active Shell, the versatile jacket is shown in the accompanying image.
Krios / Lethe Q
Krios and Lethe Q share the same basic backpack design, with Krios tailored for men and Lethe Q for women. Haglöfs put considerable development work into comfort and function for both, particularly the back length, hip belt and shoulder straps. Each model came in two sizes and three colors: Krios in 28 and 40 liters, and Lethe Q in 28 and 35 liters.
The larger versions used an updated lightweight Contact™ suspension system with easy height adjustment. A 4 mm frame provided stability without excessive weight, while ventilated shoulder straps improved comfort during faster-paced activities. The hydration system sat outside the main compartment, between the back padding and the pack, making refills easier. Any leaks could drain through an outlet without soaking the contents.
Krios and Lethe Q also brought back a classic Haglöfs attachment system: perforated straps for accessories such as trekking poles, providing flexible, strong attachment points. The packs shared their design language and materials with the larger Oxo trekking pack and the new Zolo.
Lizard Pant / Q Pant
For spring 2012, Haglöfs’ popular Lizard softshell shorts gained a full-length companion, the Lizard Pant. Made from DWR-treated, bluesign®-approved FlexAble™ four-way stretch fabric, the pants combined comfort, low weight and breathability with good wind resistance. Their technical cut had a slim, clean profile suited to trekking, scrambling and climbing. The new pants completed a Lizard softshell family designed to perform well in summer.
Observe
The Observe series consisted of three shoe models. The Observe Mid GT was a mid-height hiking shoe with a durable, water-repellent polyester upper and a Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort membrane for waterproofing and breathability, intended for summer hiking.
The lightweight, low-cut Observe GT used the same materials as the Mid GT and was designed for both woodland and urban use. The Observe was a light, highly breathable shoe with a water-repellent polyester 3D-mesh upper, offering comfort for summer walks in town and in the woods.
All three came in men’s and women’s versions. Developed in collaboration with ASICS, they were softer and lighter than traditional hiking shoes, with the aim of improving comfort and helping walkers go farther.
