Nikwax, world leader in aftercare for outdoor products, today launches Down Wash Direct – the first aftercare product designed to clean and maximize performance for both untreated and treated down.
Nikwax has developed Down Wash Direct specifically for the ever-growing range of treated, water-resistant down products. Down is highly effective as insulation material, but it quickly loses its insulating properties when wet. Water-resistant down fillings, such as Nikwax Hydrophobic Down (NHD), address the problem.
To restore performance after repeated use, treated down requires special care. Dirt, oil, and other contaminants cause the water-resistant ability to decrease over time. Down Wash Direct restores the down’s performance by cleaning, rebuilding insulation capability, and restoring the water-repellent ability of down clothing and down sleeping bags.
Down Wash Direct also reduces the water absorption of untreated down and maintains or improves the water-repellent ability of the outer fabric.
