GoPro announced the HERO3+ Black Edition with a package it described as 20% smaller and lighter than its predecessor, an upgraded lens offering 33% greater sharpness and 30% longer battery life.

The Black Edition added SuperView, a video mode combining 4:3 and 16:9 formats to capture a broader view in widescreen footage. Auto Low Light mode adjusted the frame rate according to lighting conditions to improve low-light performance.

The Silver Edition was also updated. It shared the smaller physical size, quoted as 20% smaller and lighter than earlier models, and GoPro described it as twice as powerful as the previous Silver Edition.

Wearable and mountable, with a housing rated waterproof to 40 meters, the Silver captured video up to 1080p at 60 frames per second and 10-megapixel stills at up to ten frames per second. Faster built-in Wi-Fi, improved low-light performance and a claimed 25% increase in battery life were intended to make recording and sharing easier.

The launch also expanded the accessory range with products including the Jaws Flex Clamp, Dual Battery Charger and updates to existing accessories.
