Next spring, Patagonia launches the market’s lightest down insulation garment.
The Ultra Light Down Shirt with European 800-fill-power down weighs only 159 grams in men’s size and 142 in women’s. Great effort has been put into the shell material, which is a very strong and lightweight 10-denier ripstop nylon.
Patagonia uses a new sewing method here that requires less down in the garment. This reduces weight without diminishing the down’s insulating effect. To further reduce weight, they’ve chosen to make it a pullover model with a tight fit and short zipper. Stuff sack included.
Like all garments in Patagonia’s 2011 collection, the Ultra Light Down Shirt is recyclable and part of the Common Threads recycling program.
