Petzl Elia: A climbing helmet with room for a ponytail
Petzl’s 2010 Elia helmet used an adjustable OMEGA headband designed for women, with space for a ponytail and removable, washable padding.

Petzl introduced the Elia helmet for female climbers in 2010.
Its patented OMEGA headband made the helmet easy to put on and remove, with a shape designed to accommodate a ponytail. The headband could also be adjusted to different head shapes for comfort. An injection-molded ABS shell provided a light, durable structure.
At 285 g, the Elia combined ventilation, a thoughtfully adjustable design and removable, washable foam pads.
The recommended price was SEK 750, with availability through well-stocked outdoor and climbing shops.
