Petzl Tikka RXP adjusts its light automatically
Petzl’s 2013 Tikka RXP introduced Reactive Lighting to a compact rechargeable headlamp with a redesigned headband.
Petzl introduced the Tikka RXP with Reactive Lighting, technology that adjusts the beam to the surrounding darkness and the task at hand.
The compact all-purpose headlamp was designed for work and leisure, automatically changing its output instead of requiring the user to switch modes manually. A sensor and two light sources adapted illumination for close work or looking farther ahead. The idea was to make it easy to inspect a detail of your equipment and then continue along a winding trail on a dark evening.
A sensor beside the LEDs assessed the available light. Pointing the lamp into the distance produced full output; directing it toward a nearby object reduced the beam to suit close viewing.
The new split headband distributed pressure at the back of the head for greater comfort, particularly during longer use. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery charged by USB through a port on the lamp housing.
