Salomon EXO SLAB II Short
Salomon’s 2011 EXO SLAB II compression shorts were developed with its international trail-running team to provide support around the thighs and abdomen.
Salomon continued developing its EXO SensiFit technology in 2011, introducing the EXO SLAB II Short. The compression garment was created with the Salomon International Trail Running Team, which included Spanish world champion Kilian Jornet. EXO was intended to support muscles and stabilize the body on rough terrain. Salomon also claimed reduced cramps and injury risk, improved endurance and faster recovery.
“The EXO SLAB II Short has a patented grid pattern that compresses and provides extra support around the thighs and abdomen,” said Christer Lidgren, Salomon’s head of Sweden. “We have spent many hours both on the trails and in our laboratory to get the best possible result. EXO significantly improves recovery time, which is very important to many elite athletes.”
Salomon’s approach was to develop equipment around the needs of leading athletes, then make it available to a broader audience. Jornet, one of the world’s leading trail runners, was central to that work. In 2009, Salomon began Kilian’s Quest, a project focused on record attempts. The source highlighted two occasions on which he had run from Chamonix to the summit of Mont Blanc, gaining almost 4,000 vertical meters, in four hours. His achievements inspired runners around the world.
