Salomon introduced the Soft Flask in its spring/summer 2012 collection. The flexible bottle was designed to sit comfortably in the hand while running and take up little space in a pocket or bag once empty. A sealing bite valve accommodated liquid, gel or a mixture of both.

The launch information described the soft material as free from bisphenol and phthalates. Its flexible shape fitted a variety of holders, compartments and pockets, and Salomon said it weighed considerably less than a rigid plastic bottle.

“We are constantly looking for innovative hydration systems to benefit trail runners. Soft Flask makes it easier for runners to carry fluid before and during a run to help maintain hydration. We look forward to people beyond our own Trail Running Team trying it and discovering its benefits,” said Christer Lidgren, Salomon’s Swedish country manager.

Two sizes were offered: 148 ml for SEK 170 and 237 ml for SEK 200.
