Salomon S-Lab: Developed with leading trail runners
Salomon’s spring and summer 2012 S-Lab selection included EXO clothing, Fellcross and Sense shoes, and the Advanced Skin S-Lab 12 pack.
Salomon develops trail-running clothing and equipment together with the Salomon International Trailrunning Team under the S-Lab name, short for Salomon Lab. Athletes and designers work closely on details that can make a difference in competition. Selected products from that work reached the wider market in spring and summer 2012.
Two tops in the collection were the Exo S-Lab Tank and Exo S-Lab Zip Tech Tee. Both used Salomon’s patented EXO technology, intended to support muscles and stabilize the body on uneven terrain. Salomon claimed that the system could reduce cramps and speed recovery.
Exo S-Lab SS Zip Tech Tee: EXO SensiFit was promoted as supporting posture and muscles while improving oxygen uptake, helping runners go farther and recover faster. Price: SEK 1,000. The Exo S-Lab Tank cost SEK 800.
EXO SLAB II Short: A patented grid pattern provided compression and extra support around the thighs and abdomen. Price: SEK 1,400. The Twin Skin EXO S-Lab Short, combining EXO tights with outer shorts, cost SEK 1,500.
S-Lab Fellcross: A low-profile, lightweight shoe with strong grip and water-repellent materials, developed by racers for racers. Price: SEK 1,800.
S-Lab Sense: Lightweight, quick-drying shoes designed to grip dry or slippery, soft or hard surfaces. The standout feature was Sense EndoFit, which provided an almost sock-like fit. Price: SEK 2,000.
Advanced Skin S-Lab 12 Set: A close-fitting, body-shaped pack for long, demanding outings, available in two sizes with numerous small compartments. SensiFit construction and breathable mesh kept it close to the body to reduce rubbing. It had space for a hydration reservoir and other equipment required for UTMB. A PVC- and BPA-free reservoir was included. Price: SEK 1,700.
