SILVA Runner: a compact headlamp for training after dark
The 2012 Runner launch paired a 550-lumen output with a 62 g lamp unit and four lighting modes.
SILVA introduced the Runner headlamp in 2012 for demanding evening and early-morning running or skiing. Two high-power LEDs delivered a stated 550 lumens using Intelligent Light: a long-range beam combined with a broad floodlight to illuminate the path ahead, the ground near the feet and the sides.
Runner offered four modes, including a flashing warning light. Its lightweight construction reduced the load on the head, while an extra-wide, anti-slip headband helped keep it comfortably in place on uneven terrain.
The aluminum lamp housing aided cooling. A large on/off button allowed operation with gloves. Power came from an external rechargeable battery that could be positioned as needed.
“Runner and the Pavé bike light are SILVA’s biggest launches this year, and both have attracted considerable interest from retailers,” said category manager Tereza Andersson. She described Runner as the company’s choice when demanding training required effective light distribution.
Store availability was announced for September 2012, with a recommended price of SEK 2,500.
