Hummel’s retro-inspired sportswear for spring and summer
Hummel’s 2011 collection combined stripes, bright colors and soft, stretchy fabrics with a retro sporting look.
Looking through Hummel’s spring and summer 2011 collection, we found plenty of interest from this established sports brand. Hummel originated in Hamburg and launched its first sports-shoe collection in 1923.
By the time of this article, it was Danish-owned. Although sportswear and shoes had always been its focus, a more recent line of retro-inspired clothing had also proved successful.
The collection mixed modern sporting pieces with a retro feel. Stripes were particularly prominent, appearing in many forms. As with several other brands that season, strong colors also featured, with different shades of blue standing out for summer.
Comfort was central to the range: soft, stretchy and lightweight fabrics were intended to suit summer activities.
