Fjällräven introduces the Akka Endurance tunnel tent
The 2011 Akka Endurance range added new dimensions, stronger fabric and practical features in two-, three- and four-person versions.
Fjällräven introduced the Akka Endurance in 2011 as a development of its Akka tunnel-tent range. It featured revised dimensions, new functions and a strong, lightweight polyester fabric called 30-denier Triple Rip. The company positioned it for year-round use, including demanding weather, in two-, three- and four-person sizes.
Practical details included mosquito netting at all openings and end vents supported by brass wire to help release condensation. Both the inner tent and vestibule had drying lines. Compartments and pockets inside held small items such as a phone, magazines and a headlamp.
Attachment points allowed additional pockets, a gear shelf and a vestibule groundsheet to be fitted. An optional 3 × 3-meter tarp could create extra sheltered outdoor space for socializing in wet weather; the source also described it as a way to create a separate cooking area.
Fjällräven said the triple-ripstop weaving technique made the fabric stronger while keeping it light. The polyester was designed for UV resistance and to retain its shape in wet and humid conditions. Revised dimensions provided room for occupants and equipment.
To withstand wear near rocky or sharp ground, the lower sections used VX07 reinforcement, a multilayer laminate with 70-denier ripstop nylon. The announcement noted that this type of material was also used in sails for demanding sailing competitions.
