Thule Flow: a roof box designed for winter sports
The Thule Flow announcement highlighted a low-profile ski box for equipment up to 210 cm long, with dual-side opening and quick mounting.
Since designing its first ski box in the 1970s, Thule had aimed to make transporting skis convenient and secure. In its 2016 Flow announcement, the company presented a modern, aerodynamic roof box with a low, wide shape for skis, poles and snowboards. It accommodated skis up to 210 cm long.
Thule emphasized easy mounting, loading and unloading, with the Flow’s low weight contributing to handling. Its characteristic shape drew on the company’s design heritage while being styled to suit contemporary cars.
The company also highlighted its safety testing, both at the Thule Test Center™ and in real-world conditions, as part of developing its roof-box transport systems.
The preinstalled Power-Click quick-mount system was designed for one-handed installation. Opening from either long side made skis and boards easier to load and remove. Thule said the streamlined shape improved airflow around the box to reduce fuel consumption and noise.
