New Swedish Carp Record
Once again, a gigantic carp has been lured in Tegelbruksdammen, Lomma, where Sweden's largest carp thrive. At 11 AM on May 17th, a new Swedish record was set.
Once again, a gigantic carp has been lured in Tegelbruksdammen, Lomma, where Sweden’s largest carp thrive. At 11 AM on May 17th, dedicated carp fanatic Birger Holmqvist from Veinge hooked a massive fish. It turned out to be a new Swedish record on the line.
– Birger had participated in a carp competition where he won a weekend’s fishing at Tegelbruksdammen, which is otherwise a water not open to the public. He hit the mark perfectly and managed the feat of catching several fine carp, including Sweden’s largest to date, says Nicka Hellenberg, Trophy Fish Registrar at Sportfiskarna.
A Significant Improvement
In recent years, the carp record has been nudged up slightly on several occasions. This time, it was a substantial increase from the previous record weight of 26,020 grams. Birger’s 100-centimeter-long fish weighing 27,460 grams beats the record by over 1.4 kilos.
The bait used was boilies of the SBM White Secret type.
Witnesses were present at the catch and weighing. The scale has since been verified against laboratory instruments. Birger Holmqvist’s caught and released carp is therefore declared Sweden’s heaviest.
