Sportfiskarna Distributes SEK 200,000 to Local Fish Conservation

Members of fishing clubs and fish conservation associations dedicate hundreds of thousands of volunteer workdays annually to fish conservation efforts across the country.

This year, Sportfiskarna is distributing SEK 200,000 from the federation’s fish conservation fund to support this valuable local fish conservation work.

– The volunteer work carried out locally by various associations is both highly cost-effective and important for regionally improving the aquatic environment. The federation considers it essential that more funds are invested in fish conservation measures, and responsible authorities should also allocate more resources to concrete actions, comments Markus Lundgren, Sportfiskarna’s Head of Fish Conservation.

Among the eight projects receiving grants from the Fish Conservation Fund are:

Storöringens Fk in Timrå, which has been granted funds for “Removing migration barriers in Sågbäcken,” Fiskevårdsnätverket Göteborg, which is investing in “Biotope restoration in Haga å,” and Motala Flugfiskare, which will work for the grayling in Vättern with the project “Supplementing spawning beds in Kärrsbyån.”

• Lule Älvdals Serviceorgan – Grants for travel and accommodation at consultation and collaboration meetings.
• Storöringens Fk, Söråker – Removing migration barriers in Sågbäcken.
• Fiskevårdsnätverket Göteborg – Biotope restoration Haga å.
• Jumkilsåns Vattenvårdssällskap, Uppsala – Biotope restoration on a section of Jumkilsån.
• Motala Flugfiskare – Supplementing spawning beds in Kärrsbyån.
• Sällskapet Sportfiskare Göteborg – Biotope restoration Rolfsån.
• Sfk Malen, Skällinge – Removing migration barriers in Himleån.
