WL-green-1We’ve been using Contigo’s thermos mug frequently for an extended period, both for everyday use and as an outdoor accessory. The thermos mug is described as completely spill-proof and claims to keep drinks hot for up to four hours – something we can confirm after about 100 cups of coffee.

The Contigo West Loop uses a technology they call Autoseal®. It’s a technology that guarantees 100% spill- and drip-free use, and it’s also BPA-free.

When you want to drink, you press the button on the back – easily operated with one hand – and when you release the button, the mug is completely sealed. We’ve twisted, shaken, and turned the mug upside down, and so far Contigo has delivered on its promises. The thermos mug doesn’t leak. It’s made from stainless steel with double-walled vacuum insulation, keeping drinks hot for about four hours and cold for up to 12 hours. Since this has been a faithful companion to work virtually every day, we can confirm it handles keeping drinks hot for four hours as long as you don’t start sipping the contents. The less liquid in the mug, the faster it cools down. But the grade is still an easy pass with flying colors.

Is there anything negative? Actually, yes – two things. The lid is not easy to hand wash. On Contigo’s website, there’s an instructional video where a couple of different mini dish brushes are used, but honestly – who has those at home? The thermos mug’s weight is also a minus. Both with and without liquid, it weighs quite a bit. It’s no problem at the office, but it quickly gets disqualified from the gram-counting outdoor enthusiast’s list.
