Grower’s Cup is something as ingenious as filter coffee in a handy single-serving package. Delicious and easy to bring along on your adventures. Representatives from the clever Grower’s Cup coffee were on hand at this year’s buying days, and we took some bags home to test.
On a lovely autumn day in the forest, surrounded by large amounts of chanterelles and family, we put Grower’s Cup Guatemala and Honduras to the test. Water was heated, the bag was opened, and a short while later filled with the hot water. The bag was sealed for 8 minutes (shorter if you want weaker coffee) and then it was ready to serve. The brewing process takes care of itself while the bag is sealed, and you can attend to other things in the meantime.
As you can see in the gallery images, there is a built-in filter in the bag that eliminates coffee grounds, and when it’s time to pour the coffee, you simply form a small spout on the side of the bag. Everything flows smoothly, and most importantly, the coffee tastes really good. The only thing to note is that it’s a bit weak for my personal taste, so in the next bag, I’ll pour in a little less water.
A major advantage of the coffee in this series is that it’s organic and fair trade – it always feels better to drink coffee knowing that the coffee farmers are getting something back.
Grower’s Cup has a large range, and beyond the outdoor industry, they also market for hotel, office, and home use. You can therefore purchase a holder for the package, which you can see in the last image in the gallery.
The recommended price should be 20 SEK/bag, giving you three cups of great coffee. Five bags should be available for 100 SEK. It’s not the cheapest coffee for outdoor use, but definitely one of the tastiest!
