I Love Outdoor visits Tierra
Our 2010 visit to Tierra previewed its winter ski collection and upcoming spring and summer jackets, pants and shorts.
During a busy afternoon at the Fenix Outdoor offices, which Tierra shared with sister companies including Fjällräven and Primus, I Love Outdoor explored the products planned for the coming year.
A company presentation introduced the Experience, Solid and Ace clothing lines before we handled and tried on the winter collection, due to arrive in stores shortly. The ski collection was the season’s standout addition. Its colors, fit and practical features caught our attention. The men’s range was named Rond and the women’s Laub.
Tierra’s top-end Roc Blanc jacket had already undergone demanding tests around the world. Designed for users seeking more from their shell, it combined freedom of movement with a close fit. The established Gorni remained in the range.
The spring and summer collection also had plenty of additions. The pants immediately drew our attention: Off Duty pants and shorts used heavy cotton canvas; quick-drying Monkey pants and shorts suited travel and climbing; and the street-inspired Utby pants also worked for climbing.
The popular Scirocco Jacket had been revised and fitted extremely well when we tried it. Both the Scirocco and insulated Scirocco Zero Jacket were made from recycled polyester.
The Route Hood Jacket was a hooded softshell planned in three colors. The Whitehorn Female Jacket was a longer, fitted women’s Gore-Tex coat.
At the time of our September 2010 visit, Tierra’s fall/winter catalog was already available and the clothing was due shortly. The original article announced further fall and winter coverage taking a closer look at several of these products.
