How Does It Work?
Polartec has developed a gene-engineered yarn with a very tight construction that significantly reduces the cooling effect – an important property that’s often the Achilles’ heel of traditional fleece. Polartec has proven the effectiveness both in lab tests and in the field. Polartec® Wind Pro® blocks wind 4x more than traditional fleece. The durable, water-repellent surface repels rain and snow. The coarser velour backing traps air, providing a higher warmth-to-weight ratio. Both surfaces of these fabrics are treated for maximum durability and don’t pill. They maintain their insulating ability and original appearance after repeated use and washing. Since it’s not a laminate, Polartec® Wind Pro® breathes very well and retains 85% of the breathability of traditional fleece, so you don’t overheat.
