For the second year running, Salomon continues to organize a series of trail races taking place between May and October, from Kiruna in the north to Malmö in the south. The start is on May 5 in Linköping and the final race will be in Norrköping on October 23. Salomon Trail Tour 2010 consisted of 12 races and has an expanded calendar this year, listed below. An estimated 20,000 people are expected to participate.

The races will consist of two distances: 10-12 km and 4-6 km on soft narrow trails that may alternate with running on wider lit trails. There are classes for men, women, youth (12-16 years), and junior (16-20 years).

New this year is that seven of the races will be more challenging on the longer distance of 10-12 km, called Speed Cross. These are “Tjurruset” (Bull Rush) style races that mostly run on trails where approximately 10 percent of the distance contains natural obstacles such as mud, bogs, or various water obstacles. Speed Cross is also the name of Salomon’s sharpest trail shoe.

– The idea behind Salomon Trail Tour is that the distances should suit everyone who enjoys being active while enjoying nature. We want to get more people to discover how fantastic it is to run in the forest – for both body and soul, says Crilla Lidgren, Sweden Manager for Amer Sports and responsible for Salomon Trail Tour. The race is growing and we’re innovating.

Salomon continuously collaborates with a wide spectrum of athletes to test new concepts and products. Salomon Trail Tour gives Salomon a superb opportunity to develop shoes and garments together with some of the world’s best trail runners. Salomon’s EXO concept and Crossmax series are examples of such projects.
