Naturkompaniet Launches the Outdoor App

Naturkompaniet wants to make your outdoor life both easier and more fun. They’ve utilized some of your phone’s existing functions and developed some new ones. All these features have been gathered in an easy-to-use interface.

Naturkompaniet’s hope is that you experience both utility and enjoyment with Friluftsappen (the Outdoor App). They see it as a multi-tool for outdoor enthusiasts. This is Naturkompaniet’s first app, and they look forward to developing it further based on user feedback.

• Navigation with simple and user-friendly GPS, mark your own points of interest with ready-made icons, lay tracks, and share with friends in GPX format (Garmin standard)
• Follow your friends and see where they are on the map
• Compass
• Tips and guides for planning your adventure
• Follow and comment on our blog where you can read about gear tests and more
• Follow your local weather with a 5-day forecast based on your position
• Local temperature with min and max temps over the last 24 hours
• Outdoor diary where you can log your memories and share them with friends on Facebook or Twitter
• Flashlight with screen illumination and powerful LED light (only supported on iPhone 4)
• Camera with geotagged photos or video that you can share with friends
• First aid guide for children and adults
• Egg timer, timing, stopwatch to make sure your pasta in the forest is al dente
• SOS function where you can program your own emergency numbers and send emergency SMS to selected phones with a preset emergency message containing your current position
• Of course, we’ve already downloaded the app but haven’t had time to test it seriously yet. But since you always have your iPhone with you, this app is guaranteed to come in handy when we’re out on adventures.
