Norwegian retailer XXL prepares to open in Sweden
XXL’s first Swedish store was due to open in Bromma on September 24, 2010, with two more locations planned that fall.

XXL was preparing to open a 5,000 m² store in an old aircraft hangar in Bromma on September 24, 2010. The announcement described it as the Nordic region’s largest sports and outdoor department store, offering a different retail experience.
It was the first of three stores planned for that fall, followed by another in Stockholm and one in Gothenburg. Further expansion in Sweden and Norway was planned for 2011; the company already had 14 Norwegian stores at the time.
We at I Love Outdoor planned to visit on opening day and share our impressions and photographs after the weekend. The editorial team welcomed XXL to the Swedish market.
