Point 65 acquires Kayak Event’s Malmö store
Paddlepoint acquired Kayak Event’s Malmö retail business in 2011, with a Point 65 Kayak Center set to open at Norra Vallgatan 28 on May 3.

Paddlepoint AB, part of The Paddlepoint Group and a sister company of Point65 Sweden AB, acquired Kayak Event’s retail operation in Malmö in 2011. Point 65 planned to build on the business, already one of Sweden’s leading paddlesports stores.
Point 65 Kayak Center Malmö was scheduled to open on May 3 at Norra Vallgatan 28, a familiar address for local paddlers. It would become the sixth center in the chain, offering kayaks and accessories from leading paddlesports brands, rentals, courses and guided trips. The other centers were in Stockholm/Solna, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Gävle and Rungstedt Havn in Denmark.
Kayak Event operator Peter Berg would base his continuing business in Sölvesborg, Blekinge, focusing on courses, tours and group paddling in southern Sweden. Overseas paddling trips were also a possibility.
“I am entirely convinced that Point 65 will develop the store and make it even more attractive to both existing and prospective customers,” Berg said. “I would like to thank all the customers, large and small, who have visited us and wish Point 65 every success.”
Point 65 founder Richard Öhman said: “In just a few years, Peter has established Kayak Event Malmö as one of Sweden’s leading kayak stores. Point 65 has been alongside him throughout. After five years of excellent cooperation, things have come full circle, and we are very pleased that Peter is trusting us to take over the business he created.”
