Prolink expands the choice of cross-country boots and bindings
Salomon and Atomic introduced Prolink in January 2016 alongside the existing SNS system.

Amer Sports, through Salomon and Atomic, introduced Prolink in January 2016 to give cross-country skiers more choice when pairing boots and bindings. The new system was compatible with the other dominant binding system on the market.
“We are very pleased to make things easier for cross-country skiers, who no longer have to let the binding system determine their choice of boots,” said Karl Zeitz, Amer Sports’s Nordic skiing sales manager in Sweden.

For a long time, two dominant, incompatible systems had divided the cross-country market. Skiers who preferred Salomon boots had therefore been tied to SNS.
Prolink offered an alternative. Amer Sports described SNS as providing control and stability, while Prolink emphasized snow feel through close contact between boot and binding. Direct mounting on the ski reinforced that connection.
Salomon planned a complete range of boots and bindings for both SNS and Prolink. The boots would share their fit, features and design, with the outsole being the difference that determined which binding they fitted.
Both binding systems used the same mounting-hole pattern. Salomon also announced that all its cross-country skis would come predrilled, making installation easier and positioning the binding as intended.
Prolink was jointly developed by Salomon and Atomic, which stood behind its quality and compatibility. The new boots, bindings and predrilled skis were due in stores from January 2016.
