STS Alpresor reports record Swedish travel to the Alps
More than 20,000 Swedes traveled with STS Alpresor during the 2015 winter season, an 8% increase on the previous year.

The 2015 winter season was a record year for STS Alpresor. More than 20,000 Swedes traveled to the Alps with the ski tour operator between December and April, an increase of 8% on the previous year.
Bad Gastein in Austria remained the most popular destination, with bookings up 5%.
“As well as Bad Gastein’s reliable snow, we invest heavily in our own hotels. At Hotel Salzburger Hof this year, Michelin Guide chefs Håkan Thörnström, Stefan Karlsson, Gustav Trägårdh and Ulf Wagner made guest appearances in the kitchen. That attracted many guests, because good food is an important part of the overall travel experience. We ended the season on a high with plenty of snow and a performance by former snowboarder and now singer Lisa Miskovsky,” said STS Alpresor CEO Peter Johnson.
A rising destination was the Olympic village of Sauze d’Oulx, within Via Lattea, one of the Alps’ largest ski areas, conveniently located near Turin. Its village atmosphere and reputation for sunshine and snow helped attract visitors. Other additions that season, Zauchensee and Serfaus in Austria, also proved popular.
“Continued strength in household finances and a good Alpine winter, combined with a less enjoyable winter at home, seem to have influenced travel. As the strong economy appears to be continuing, bookings for next winter are already coming in. Many people want to secure skiing over Christmas, New Year, the winter school break and Easter, so those weeks fill quickly,” Johnson concluded.
