Five active vacations selected by Reseguiden.se
Reseguiden’s 2010 selection of active Swedish breaks included kayaking, horse riding, fishing, downhill biking and midnight golf.

Vacation does not have to mean doing nothing. Sweden’s countryside offers plenty of ways to stay active, on land and water. Here are five packages selected by Reseguiden for summer 2010, from fishing to midnight golf. Dates and prices below refer to those original offers.
1. Paddle among islands and skerries
A guided kayaking trip in the Bohuslän archipelago ran August 20–22, visiting Älgön and other islands and nature reserves. Prices started at SEK 3,500, including kayak, food and accommodation. The trip also involved some walking, and previous kayaking experience was recommended.

2. Explore the mountains on horseback
This two-day ride on Icelandic horses explored Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve and included a stop at the Sámi settlement of Stabburet. Prices started at SEK 1,950 per person, including meals and a night in a traditional long kåta shelter.

3. Go fishing in Bergslagen
Fishing can be active and deeply relaxing. This package offered a chance to try new waters, with one night in a double room at Bergsgården, breakfast and a 24-hour fishing permit for Smedsjön, just north of Lindesberg. Prices started at SEK 545. There was also an opportunity nearby to walk a section of the Bergslagsleden trail.

4. Find some adrenaline on two wheels
Säfsen’s downhill biking package offered trails for beginners and more experienced riders. The Thursday-to-Sunday break cost SEK 1,495 and included a log cabin, two buffet dinners and two days of lift passes. Bike hire was extra, at SEK 490 for two days.

5. Play a round at midnight
At Björkliden Fjällby, golfers could play in sunshine around the clock. A package with one overnight stay started at SEK 1,195 per person, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and green fees. The midnight sun lasted until around July 20, after which the nights began to darken.
