Sälen’s push for year-round tourism drew partly on Åre, where the original 2010 report credited Holiday Club with helping almost double snow-free-season visitor numbers over five years.

SkiStar and Stadium invested approximately SEK 350 million in Experium at Lindvallen, offering shopping, an adventure pool, bowling, restaurants, bars and a spa.

The hope was that Experium, downhill cycling and Cykelvasan would attract more summer visitors. Plans also called for Sälens Högfjällshotell to develop into a mountain resort with shopping, a spa and restaurants.
