Summer and fall activities with Camp Åre
This 2010 feature looked beyond Åre’s ski season to cycling, paddling, climbing and other summer adventures.
What are your vacation plans? I usually prefer to take my time off in winter, but that was not the plan for 2010. I was looking forward to at least a week in northern Sweden with a variety of activities.
Åre is traditionally associated with winter, understandably for such an established ski resort. It had also become known for a broad choice of activities in the warmer months. Camp Åre offered outings throughout summer and fall.
Alongside the area’s scenery, its program included cycling, canoeing and kayaking, cave trips, rafting, whitewater kayaking, fishing and climbing.
One addition that year was guided cross-country bike riding. Camp Åre had put together ten routes: some suitable for everyone and a couple designed to test more experienced riders.
