Sweden expands its snowboard team for the coming season
The September 2011 announcement expanded Sweden’s snowboard program from seven riders to 17, with women’s selections due in October.
Sweden announced plans to expand its national snowboard team from the previous season’s seven riders to 17 for the coming season.
“This year’s team will have greater depth. Sweden has plenty of good riders, and it feels very positive to select the best and help them reach new heights,” said snowboard sports director Olle Danielsson.
Slopestyle’s Olympic status brought the Swedish Olympic Committee back into snowboarding, supporting development and the slopestyle program. Cooperation with Kläppen Ski Resort was also expected to play an important role.
“The partnership will ensure the best training opportunities for our riders and help develop the sport more broadly. It feels absolutely right for us,” said Danielsson.
