Devold Expedition earns top marks in a base layer test
Devold Expedition came out on top in a Testfakta comparison of eight merino base layers, combining a merino inner layer with a reinforced outer layer.
Devold Expedition was named best in test in a Testfakta comparison of merino base layers from eight suppliers, carried out with a laboratory and three ski instructors. The February 2015 source report described it as the clear winner.
Devold’s merino range included Energy for training, lightweight Breeze for exercise or relaxation, Sport for active use and the thicker Expedition for colder days.
Expedition used two layers: an inner layer of 100% merino wool and an outer layer of 90% water-repellent merino wool with 10% polyamide. Devold described the soft base layer as highly insulating, with moisture-management properties intended to move moisture away from the body and help the wearer feel drier. It could be worn as a first or second layer.
