World Snow Day 2015: Celebrating snow around the world
World Snow Day on January 18, 2015 brought activities to more than 250 locations in 39 countries, including celebrations in Falun.
India, South Africa and Iceland joined Denmark, Macedonia, Austria and Sweden among 39 countries celebrating World Snow Day on January 18, 2015. Events were planned at more than 250 locations worldwide.
Several of Sweden’s 220 ski areas, from Vallåsen in the south to Riksgränsen in the north, organized activities for the day. Snörapporten helped visitors find their nearest resort and snow conditions.
Extra celebrations in Falun
Källviksbacken in Falun, the World Championship host city, planned an especially busy celebration. The Swedish Ski Association and Alla på snö were on site, with opportunities to try cross-country skiing, snowboarding, alpine skiing and ski cross.
Visitors could also learn about ski-instructor training and new ski and snowboard equipment. Demonstrations and competitions were combined with information about Sweden’s right of public access, in collaboration with Håll Sverige Rent, the Keep Sweden Tidy organization.

World Snow Day is an annual international event within the International Ski Federation’s campaign to give as many children as possible a chance to enjoy snow. The initiative encourages national federations to promote snow sports in their own countries.
