Garmin now presents the Approach S5 – a golf watch with GPS for the ambitious golfer. The Approach S5 has a high-resolution color touchscreen with CourseView, TouchTargeting, and manual flag placement. With the Approach S5, you can stay connected on the course with Smart Notification, which sends calls, texts, and emails to the watch from a compatible smartphone.
The Approach S5 has more than 38,000 courses worldwide installed, and the watch’s scorecard helps you save statistics that you can then upload to Garmin Connect to share and compare your rounds with other players.

With more than 38,000 international courses, free updates, and lots of smart features, the Approach S5 is ready to help you on the golf course. With CourseView, you can see exactly how the hole looks including doglegs, hazards, and the shape of the green when you’re out on the course or even before in the clubhouse. The S5 also has GreenView, which shows you the appearance of the green, nearby bunkers, and water hazards. You can also use the touchscreen to drag and drop the flag to today’s placement, and on the high-resolution screen, Touch Targeting shows the exact distance to any point on the hole, whether it’s the fairway, hazard, or green.
The Approach S5 also functions as a digital scorecard where you can save, review, and share scorecards and statistics. Transfer the information to Garmin Connect™ or the Garmin Connect Mobile App so you can analyze and share your scorecards including fairways hit, greens in regulation, shot length, and number of putts. You can also analyze hole-by-hole to understand your own trends and tendencies and improve your game.
The Approach S5 also has a handicap scoring function, which provides handicap options for individual holes or your local handicap. This is great for seeing your progress and improvements over time for each course you play.
The Approach S5 can be paired with a compatible smartphone via Bluetooth. With Smart Notification, you can then see texts, emails, and incoming calls directly on the watch.
The Approach S5 has up to 10 hours of battery life in GPS mode and up to 20 weeks in watch mode. It has a robust design and is waterproof down to 50 meters, so it can handle being out in rainy weather and being tossed into a golf bag. A built-in odometer shows how far you’ve walked during today’s round, and a timer tells you how long it took to play 18 holes.
The Approach S5 is black with blue accents and with the option to switch to several different colorful straps.
