Garmin now presents three new fēnix® 3 Sapphire multisport GPS watches. The new models feature new activity profiles for golf, SUP (stand up paddle) and rowing, plus several running analysis functions such as advanced running dynamics and physiological measurements. One of the models also features Garmin Elevate™ wrist-based heart rate technology.

– fēnix 3 is one of our most popular watches and we are proud of the launch of the three new models, says Martin Resch, product manager for Garmin Outdoor.

– Additionally, it’s extra exciting to be able to offer Garmin Elevate technology in the fēnix series as well, and the updated watches will appeal to users whether they’re out running, heading to the office, or playing golf.

fēnix 3 boasts advanced training and navigation features, but it’s also stylish enough to wear to the office. The new fēnix 3 Sapphire comes with both a classic leather strap and a black nylon band that you can quickly switch between depending on the occasion. fēnix 3 Sapphire is also available with Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart rate measurement, in which case it comes with a black silicone band. With Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart rate technology, you can train whenever and wherever you want without a chest strap. With fēnix 3 HR on your wrist, you can monitor your activity around the clock whether you’re training or taking a walk. It measures your daily intense minutes and your sleep, then wirelessly transfers all data to the Garmin Connect™ mobile app where you can track your progress.

For the most demanding sports and expeditions, there’s the fēnix 3 Sapphire Titanium. It’s a premium version that combines toughness with minimal weight along with the high quality you can expect from Garmin.

Advanced running dynamics are available in several Garmin watches today. The feature has now been developed with more data and also includes physiological measurements1 so that you as a runner become more aware of how your body functions during training, can avoid injuries, and improve your performance. The new metrics include:

  • Stride length: Measures your stride length in real time.
  • Ground contact time incl. balance: Measures each leg separately so you load both sides of the body equally and avoid injuries.
  • Vertical oscillation: Shows how efficient your running technique is.
  • Lactate threshold: Estimates your level of exertion based on heart rate and pace.
  • Stress score: Measures variations in heart rate frequencies to assess your total stress level before you head out for a run.
  • Performance condition: Shows how you’re performing at the beginning and during the run relative to your average.

All current fēnix 3 models can be updated to get the new advanced running dynamics features, as well as the new activity profiles for golf, SUP, and rowing. Via the Garmin Connect mobile app, you can access more than 40,000 golf courses worldwide with distances to greens and hazards and also use the watch as a digital scorecard. With the new SUP/Rowing function, you can measure your paddle strokes and assess their efficiency.

The new fēnix 3 models are compatible with Connect IQ for endless customization options. Through Connect IQ in the Garmin Connect mobile app, you can download apps, widgets, watch faces, and data fields and customize your fēnix 3 to your individual needs.

The new fēnix 3 Sapphire models are expected to be available in February 2016.

fēnix 3 Sapphire with leather and nylon band and fēnix 3 Sapphire HR will have a recommended price of 6,399 SEK and fēnix 3 Sapphire Titanium at 8,599 SEK
