Helly Hansen K Shelter 2L HT Jacket
A look at the children’s K Shelter jacket, with Helly Tech XP fabric, a detachable hood, adjustable cuffs and reflective details.
We tried the Helly Hansen K Shelter 2L HT Jacket, a children’s shell designed to combine wind and rain protection with breathability for a range of activities.
The jacket used a quick-drying two-layer construction with a light, comfortable lining. Its detachable hood was a safety-oriented design feature, as on many children’s jackets.
The waist and cuffs were adjustable and reinforced. Reflective tape on both the front and back was intended to improve visibility.
The Helly Tech® XP fabric had a stated hydrostatic head of 15,000 mm. The original specifications also quoted breathability of 15,000 g, without giving the full measurement units. The fabric was intended to balance weather protection with moisture transfer during activity.
At the time of the 2011 article, the jacket came in red and five other bright colors.
