Technical outdoor clothing for younger adventurers
Bergans’ 2015 Ervik Youth jacket and Utne Youth pants brought adult-style technical features to clothing for children and teenagers.
Bergans presented the Ervik Youth Jacket as a three-layer shell showing that technical performance need not be reserved for adults. Designed for children and teenagers, it used membrane technology and features comparable to the brand’s adult clothing.
Together with the Utne Youth softshell pants and other technical pieces, it was intended to improve comfort and the outdoor experience for younger users.
“We are naturally pleased if our products help more children and teenagers get outdoors. Of course they should have access to the same kind of clothing as adults,” said Sølvi Nilsen, product manager at Bergans.
The company had invested considerable time in developing its children’s and youth collection, with girls’ and boys’ models in a wide range of colors.
Bergans Ervik Youth Jacket
This three-layer technical shell used waterproof, windproof Bergans Element Active fabric and was also available in a Girl version. Features included breathability for active use, a high collar, detachable adjustable hood, underarm ventilation zippers, water-repellent front zipper, pockets, hook-and-loop cuff adjustments, a longer back and reflective details.
The fabric was 100% polyamide. The membrane had a stated hydrostatic head of 10,000 mm and breathability of 10,000 g/m²/24 h. The water-repellent treatment was PFOA-free.

Utne Youth Pant
These quick-drying softshell pants offered moisture management and also came in a Girl version. They had front, rear and leg pockets, internal waist adjustment, pre-shaped knees and ankle zippers to adjust the leg openings. Fabric: 96% polyamide and 4% elastane, using bluesign-approved materials.
