Suunto introduces the Ambit3 Sport Sapphire
The 2015 Ambit3 Sport Sapphire combined multisport training features and activity tracking with a design shaped by feedback from women.

Suunto introduced the Ambit3 Sport Sapphire as a premium sports watch in its Ambit3 Connected family. Its distinctive design was inspired by feedback from hundreds of women.

Designed for all-day wear, the watch combined sports functions with daily activity monitoring. Users could view calories burned that day and their average daily expenditure over the week.
The free Suunto Movescount App, already available for iPhone at the announcement and scheduled for Android in March 2015, sent notifications to the watch. A glance at the wrist showed who was calling or sending a text.
The Ambit3 Sport Sapphire offered dedicated features for running, cycling and swimming, with additional functions available through Suunto App Zone. Built-in GPS provided speed, distance and location information during exercise. Navigation options included Track Back, which guided users back toward their starting point.
The Suunto Smart Sensor, included in the HR package, recorded heart rate even without the watch being worn and supported calorie estimates. Users could start recording, leave the watch behind and swim, attend Pilates or do another workout. The sensor stored heart-rate data and transferred it to the watch afterward.
“This beautiful watch was designed specifically for women with active lifestyles,” said designer Timo Yliluoma. “We aimed for a design that would look equally striking in town and on a mountain trail. With its minimalist white look combined with stainless steel and 18-karat rose gold, I think we achieved that. A soft silicone strap adapted for smaller wrists and optimized thickness gives it a lovely feel, while retaining all the essential functions for active women.”
