Magellan-ToughCase Right

Magellan GPS introduced ToughCase in 2010, a rugged waterproof case for the iPhone 3G and 3GS and second- and third-generation iPod touch. It was aimed at sailors and other outdoor users.

The design retained access to the multitouch interface, allowing normal device use and phone calls while the case was closed. It met the IPX7 waterproof standard, rated for immersion at one meter for up to 30 minutes.

A built-in high-sensitivity SiRFstarIII GPS chipset offered a stated accuracy of up to three meters. Combined with navigation and location apps, it turned the protected device into a rugged handheld GPS unit.

The integrated 1,840 mAh battery charged the device automatically. Magellan claimed that it doubled battery life under normal use.

Compatible devices: iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and second- or third-generation iPod touch.

Recommended retail price: SEK 2,395.
